Membership in the Converse Flying Eagles RC Club is $30 per year. Your annual membership provides access to our flying field, club events, monthly meetings, and a friendly community of RC aviation enthusiasts. Membership is renewed annually.
To fly at our club field, you must also maintain an active Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) membership.

Many of our members joined the club before purchasing their first RC aircraft. Visiting the field is one of the best ways to learn about the hobby before making an investment.
Our experienced members are happy to answer questions, recommend beginner-friendly aircraft and equipment, and help you avoid costly mistakes. If you are interested in learning to fly, our club offers instruction from experienced pilots using proven training methods to help you build confidence and fly safely.

All pilots flying at the Converse Flying Eagles RC Club must maintain a current membership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
AMA membership provides valuable liability insurance, promotes safe model aviation, and supports clubs and flying sites across the United States. It is also a requirement for flying at our AMA-chartered field.

Yes.
The FAA requires all recreational RC pilots to successfully complete The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) before flying.
The TRUST course is free, takes only a short time to complete, and provides a completion certificate that must be available whenever you fly.
The TRUST Certificate is a one-time requirement and does not expire. Once you have successfully completed the course, you do not need to take it again.
If you have not yet completed the TRUST course, our club members will be happy to point you toward an FAA-approved TRUST testing provider.
FAA Reference: The TRUST requirement is established under 49 U.S.C. § 44809, “Exception for Limited Recreational Operations of Unmanned Aircraft,” which requires recreational flyers to pass the FAA’s aeronautical knowledge and safety test and carry proof of completion while flying.
It depends on the weight of your aircraft.
Most recreational aircraft weighing more than 250 grams, or 0.55 pounds, must be registered with the FAA and display a valid FAA registration number on the aircraft.
Aircraft weighing 250 grams, or 0.55 pounds, or less may not require FAA registration when flown recreationally, provided they have not been modified to exceed the weight threshold.
Unlike the TRUST Certificate, FAA aircraft registration must be renewed every three years for aircraft that require registration.
If you are unsure whether your aircraft needs to be registered, our experienced club members will be happy to help you determine the current FAA requirements.
Remote ID is an FAA requirement that allows certain aircraft to broadcast identification and location information while flying.
Many newer aircraft already include Standard Remote ID. Aircraft that do not may require a Remote ID broadcast module unless they are operated at an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA), such as our club flying site.

Drone operations must follow current FAA regulations, AMA safety guidelines, and our club’s established flying procedures to ensure everyone enjoys a safe flying environment.

One of the goals of our club is introducing new people to the exciting hobby of radio-controlled aviation.
Experienced instructors are available to help new pilots learn proper flying techniques, safety procedures, and field etiquette. We encourage beginners to learn with an instructor before attempting solo flight.

While the Converse Flying Eagles RC Club predominantly flies fixed-wing radio-controlled aircraft, we are open to other types of RC aircraft as well.
All aircraft must be operated safely and in accordance with current FAA regulations, AMA Safety Code guidelines, and club rules. If you have questions about a particular aircraft, our members will be happy to discuss whether it is appropriate for operation at our flying field.
Flying is welcome throughout the day whenever weather and field conditions permit.
Night flying is also permitted, provided pilots follow the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Night Flying Safety Guidelines and all applicable FAA regulations.

Our pavilion offers shade, and bleacher seating is available for spectators to relax while watching the flying activities.
