Yes.
The FAA requires all recreational RC pilots to successfully complete The
Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) before flying.
The TRUST course is free, takes only a short time to complete, and provides a
completion certificate that must be available whenever you fly.
The TRUST Certificate is a one-time requirement and does not expire.
Once you have successfully completed the course, you do not need to take it again.
If you have not yet completed the TRUST course, our club members will be happy to
point you toward an FAA-approved TRUST testing provider.
FAA Reference: The TRUST requirement is established under 49 U.S.C. § 44809,
“Exception for Limited Recreational Operations of Unmanned Aircraft,” which requires
recreational flyers to pass the FAA’s aeronautical knowledge and safety test and
carry proof of completion while flying.
